 iOS 18.3.2

SVD app for iOS (version 3.15.0)

04/15/2025

Description:

Here's an incredibly unique bug that I have never seen before with an iOS app. There's an app called SVD which is related to a Spanish clothing retailer called "sivasdescalzo".

Like many apps, this SVD app has the option to use Apple Sign-in to create an account. If the user cancels out of

Take a look at the attached screenshots below for more information.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch the app

2. Click through pop-ups and confirm Cloudflare "are you human?"

3. Click "Skip"

4. From the "Log in" screen select the "Continue with Apple" option

5. From the "Sign in with Apple" pop-up, select the "x" to cancel the pop-up

Result: Dismissing the "Sign in with Apple" pop-up inside of the SVD app disables the app. Screen turns white (or black if the iOS is set to dark mode) and the app becomes completely unresponsive. A hard reboot of the app is necessary to get it working again

Expected: App should never enter into an unresponsive state. Dismissing the Apple Sign-in should not disable the app

Download and launch the SVD app for iOS...

Select the "Continue with Apple" option...

Cancel the pop-up menu by selecting the "X" option...

The user becomes stuck on this screen. App seems (?) to be permanently disabled.

Cleats Club app for iOS: No Apple Logo on the "Sign in with Apple" button

 iOS 18.2

Cleats Club app for iOS (version 1.1.3)

12/17/2024

Description:

Here's an odd one that I haven't seen before. An app called "Cleats Club" has the similar "Sign in with Apple" option that many apps have.

The issue here is that this app's "Sign in with Apple" button is lacking the Apple logo. Here's a screenshot of how it looks inside the app:

I have downloaded many, many apps that have the Apple sign-in option. I cannot recall an app that had a "Sign in with Apple" app that lacked an Apple logo.

I can't seem to find an exact requirement for the logo, but it seems clear that Apple's guidelines for implementation of the button imply that it's required.

Here's some example of the "system-provided buttons" - as you can see, the logo is a prominent part of providing a sense of legitimacy to the button.

Two "Sign in with Apple" buttons for use on white backgrounds...

Two more buttons for use with "White with outline"

With black.

There's an admonition that Apple's "App Review evaluates all custom Sign in with Apple buttons."

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download the Cleats Club app for iOS
2. Skip forward to the "JOIN THE CLUB" pop-up menu
3. Note the "SIGN IN WITH APPLE" button

Result: the "Sign in with Apple" button inside of the Cleats Club app lacks an Apple logo

Expected: the "Sign in with Apple" button used by the Cleats Club app should, presumably, include the Apple logo

Sole Collector app for iOS: Awkward Error Messaging after Cancelling Out Apple Sign-In During Account Creation

iOS 13.5
Sole Collector app for iOS (version 1.7)
Date: 05/30/20

Description:

There's an odd error message displayed inside of the Sole Collector app when you cancel out of creating an account with the Apple Sign-in.

I've seen these mangled error messages for years when canceling out of the Facebook or Google prompts, but this is the first time I have seen it when canceling out of Apple's Sign-in.

It is interesting enough that I thought I should document it and grab a screenshot.

This is the error message:

The error messages reads:

"The operation couldn't be completed.
(com.apple.AuthenticationServices.AuthorizationError error 1001)"

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch the app
2. Select the "Register" option
3. Select the "Apple" option under "Or Continue With:"
4. Select "Cancel" and dismiss the Apple Sign-Up option
5. Note the error button that appears at the top of the screen

Result: A less-than-user-friendly error message appears after the user cancels out of the Apple Sign-In option during account creation. This red error message appears at the top of the screen and says:

Expected: Cancelling out of the Apple Sign-In should either result in no error message, or an informative one. I actually don't recall ever seeing an error message from cancelling out of the Apple Sign-in with any other app - and I certainly don't recall a jumbled error message

Launch the app...

Select the "Register" option...

Select the Apple Sign-In option...

Cancel out of this Apple ID Sign-In pop up...

Awkward error message at the top of the screen.
