iOS 27: Returning back to in-app Share Sheet from ChatGPT freezes host app

iOS 27 on an iPhone 17

09/22/2026

Reproducing app: Zillow app for iOS (version 2026.69.0) - this reproduces with ANY that app that has a share option which options the iOS Share Sheet

Share destination: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic's Claude and Mistral's Vibe.

Description:

After sharing content from a third-party app (reproduced and screenshot with the latest version of the Zillow iOS app) to ChatGPT iOS via the Share Sheet's "More" list and then tapping the back arrow in the ChatGPT app to return to the third-party app results in the third-party app being completely unresponsive. A reboot of the third-party app is required.

This appears to be happening with Google Gemini's, ChatGPT's, Claude's and Mistral's Vibe iOS app. This is awful end user experience with iOS 27.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open Zillow (or any app with a share option) and navigate to any listing/content with a share button.

2. Tap the in-app Share icon to open the iOS share sheet.

3. In the row of app icons, tap the "More ..."

4. From the App screen/full app list, select "ChatGPT"

5. ChatGPT opens with a new chat referencing the shared content.

6. Tap the back arrow in the upper-left of the ChatGPT screen to return to the originating app (Zillow)

Expected Result: Zillow should regain responsiveness immediately - apps should not be frozen

Actual Result: Entering into an iOS app chat bot via the iOS Share sheet (in this case the ChatGPT app) and then backing out and returning to the original app results in the app being unresponsive - reboot of the app is required

Select the share option from inside any app (this is Zillow app)

Select the "More ..." option from the iOS Share Sheet

Select the iOS app version of an AI chatbot like "ChatGPT"...

Use the option in the upper left to return back to the app...

App is frozen. Bad end user experience.

seats.aero app for iOS: Deep Link formatting issue with links created using iOS share sheet

 iOS 18.6.2

seats.aero app for iOS (version 2026.1.2)

01/18/2026

Description:

Share URLs generated by the seats.aero app are not clickable hyperlinks. If the recipient of the link doesn't have the app installed on their device, the link doesn't work - it's dead.

Here's how a link looked in an email message I received:

The link appears as such: seatsaero://trip/2sNenq39yxh3m4YyZyb6jAkVGjO?id=2sNenq39yxh3m4YyZyb6jAkVGjO&remainingSeats=%7B%22y%22%3A9%2C%22w%22%3A0%2C%22j%22%3A3%2C%22f%22%3A2%7D&availableFareClasses=y%2Cj%2Cf

Why this is a problem for users:

  • Lack of Linkification: Most major mobile email clients (Gmail, Outlook) do not recognize the seatsaero:// protocol as a clickable hyperlink. It appears as plain text, forcing the recipient to copy-paste it (which often doesn't work in mobile browsers).

  • No Graceful Degradation: If the recipient doesn't have the app installed or is viewing the email on a desktop, the link is effectively "dead."

  • Payload Complexity: The URL-encoded JSON in the query parameters makes the string quite long, increasing the risk of the link being "truncated" by certain email filters.

Suggested Fix: Transitioning these share-actions to Apple Universal Links (using an https://seats.aero/ prefix supported by an apple-app-site-association file) would allow the links to open the app if installed, or a web preview if not.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch the seats.aero app for iOS

2. From the "Home" screen, select any city (example: "London")

3. Select any available flight

4. Select the share option

5. Share the generated link using the iOS share sheet (in a Messenger message, email, etc.)

Result: There is a deep Link formatting issue with links created by the seats.aero app for iOS - the links appear dead to users on other devices that don't have the app installed

Expected: Users should never be presented with a dead link to seats.aero content

Download and launch the seats.aero app from the Apple App Store...

Choose any location - such as Frankfurt...

Select a flight (in this instance, the flight at the top of the list)...

Select the share option...

Select something such as the email share option from the iOS share sheet...

This link won't work for most who receive it.

Flightradar24 app for iOS: Share sheet - auto-generated subject line disappears the second time the email dialog is activated

iOS 14.4 on an iPhone 8

Flightradar24 app for iOS (version 8.12.2)

Date: 02/24/21

There is a minor bug with the Flightradar 24 app and the iOS share sheet option. I have only seen this bug a couple of times before (once with an app called Tangi, and another time with an app Zocdoc) with a few other apps.

It's a extremely minor issue - the fact that I have only seen this problem happen a handful of times in all of the different apps I have tried this with is what is interesting to me!

The Flightradar24 has a feature where the user can share something from inside of the app (an airport, a particular flight) using the iOS share sheet. If the user activates the share sheet, and then selects the email option, the subject line is auto-filled.

Like this:

After selecting a random flight from inside the app (an LAX to Sea-Tac flight) the Subject Line inside is auto-generated.

After this pop-up appears, cancel out of the email and delete the draft. Then select the email option again from the share sheet:

After selecting the Email option a second time, the Subject Line is now blank. Not common to see this with iOS apps!

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Launch the Flightradar24 app

2. Head to anything inside of the app (an airport or a particular flight) that has an option to activate the iOS share sheet

3. Select the Email icon from the share sheet

4. Note that the Subject Line of the email is correctly auto-generated

5. Close out the email (by selecting "Cancel" and "Delete Draft") and then select the email option again

6. Note that the Subject Line of the email is now incorrectly blank

Result: The Subject Line of the emails created after selecting "email" from the iOS share sheet are blank after the email is closed and opened again

Expected: This shouldn't be happening - only happens with a handful of iOS apps

Zocdoc app for iOS: Share sheet - auto-generated subject line disappears the second time the email dialog is activated

 iOS 14.0.1

Zocdoc app for iOS (version 4.61)

Date: 10/04/20

Description:

Here's a minor bug that I have only seen once with another iOS app.

Like almost all apps, Zocdoc has an option to "Share" the app via a menu option. This "Share" option activates the iOS share sheet. If the user selects the email option from the share sheet, they will see the following text in the email message and in the subject line:

You'll notice that the when you first open up the email message, the subject line is auto-generated.

However, if you open the email option a second time...

The subject line is deleted! I've tried this with a great many apps, and I have only noticed this problem happen one other time.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch the Zocdoc app for iOS

2. Select the "Sign up/Log in" option

3. From the "My account" screen, select the "Share Zocdoc" option

4. From the iOS share sheet, select the email icon

5. Select "Cancel"

6. Select "Delete Draft"

7. From the iOS share sheet, select the email icon again

8. Note that the Subject Line is now blank

Result: The auto-generated subject line (which displays as "Check out Zocdoc") disappears the second time the user activates the email invite via the iOS share sheet

Expected: The auto-generate subject line should not disappear if the user activates the email invite more than once

Facebook Auth Login pages - Privacy Policy/TOS pages

Here's an odd thing that either just started, or I just started noticing. Facebook Authorization Login pages now seem have added links to the bottom.

Take a look at this screenshot:

This is the Log in for Pinterest. As you can see, two links have been added.

A great addition! Twitter authorization always had this.

There's an odd but that appears to happen after being taken to the pages linked to by this link. There's a share option which doesn't work.

Take a look at this screenshot:

Users are taken from the Facebook log in to pages like this. You'll notice the share option in the upper right...

The "Share Link" option does nothing. It should bring up the iOS share sheet, but it does not.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Using an app running iOS 13.6, launch an app that has a Facebook option for account creation
2. Head to Facebook authorization
3. Click on the next links at the bottom of the authorization page
