iOS 13.4.1
TikTok app for iOS (version 15.9.1)
Date: 04/30/20

Description:

Here's an issue that similar to something that was happening over the summer.

TikTok allows users to use Twitter to create accounts. When the user selects the Twitter option to create an account, the user is take to a Twitter Oauth page.

Below, you'll see what it looks like at this very moment:

Steps to Reproduce:

3. Select the "Sign Up" button
4. From the "Sign up for TikTok" page, select the "Continue with Twitter" option
5. From the "Authorize TikTok" twitter Oauth page, scroll down
6. Select either the "Privacy Policy" or "Terms and Conditions" link

Result: TikTok's Twitter Oauth page has two dead links: Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions

Expected: The Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions links on the Twitter Oauth page should link to TikTok's pages

TikTok app for iOS: Springboard: Chinese language options appear on Springboard even though iOS device is English and Region is set to US

iOS: 13.3.1
TikTok app for iOS (version 14.7.0)
Date: 02/09/2020
iPhone Language: English
Region: United States

Description:

Here's a wacky bug that I keep getting with the current version (14.7.0) of the TikTok app for iOS.

TikTok's Springboard suggestions has an odd feature - instead of showing English language commands, it shows empty/blank button, and one labeled in Chinese.

Bizarre. The app was downloaded from the US app store. The language on my iOS device is set to English. And the region of the device is US. How and why is one button blank, and one in English?

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download the TikTok app for iOS
2. Head to the Springboard - scroll down to "Edit"
3. Add TikTok and select "Done"
4. Notice that TikTok's suggestions on the Springboard have one blank button and one in English

Result: TikTok's suggestions on springboard feature one blank button and one in the Chinese language - even with my device set to English and the region of my device set to the United States

Expected: There should never be a blank button on any feature of the iOS. There should not be a button in the Chinese language if the language of my device is set to English and if the region of my device is set to the United States

TikTok Account Creation using Twitter: The Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions links crash the app

TikTok app for iOS (version 12.1.0)
Date: 07/15/2019

Description:

The TikTok app for iOS will crash when the user selects the "Privacy Policy" or "Terms and Conditions" links from the Twitter Authorization pop-up page. I would think that this is (somehow) a violation of Twitter's rules to not have these pages accessible by a user at the time of signing up.

I'm writing this down here - then writing a review in the App Store. Then i'll raise a privacy concern about another issue (while also pointing out this problem) and then send it to Apple and Twitter. I'll cc TikTok.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch TikTok (12.1.0)
2. Head to a part of the app that prompts account creation (like "Me")
3. From the "You need a TikTok account to continue" choose the Twitter option
4. From the Twitter auth pop-up select either "Privacy Policy" or "Terms and Conditions"

Result: The app crashes if the user selects either "Privacy Policy" or "Terms and Conditions" from the Twitter Auth pop-up page

Expected: The app should not crash if the user selects either "Privacy Policy" or "Terms and Conditions" from the Twitter Auth pop-up page

Select an option like "Me" to activate the sign-up message...

Choose the Twitter option....

Choose either the "Privacy Policy" or "Terms and Conditions" links on this page....
