RealSelf app for iOS: Share sheet - no subject line when sharing using the native iPhone Mail App

 iOS 15.2

RealSelf app for iOS (version 6.4.5)

Date: 01/03/2022

Description:

There's a minor problem when sharing something from inside the RealSelf app for iOS using the native iPhone Mail app.

The default "Check out this doctor on RealSelf" text is not automatically generated in the subject line of the email. The subject line is just blank. This only happens with the native iPhone Mail app. This is a rarity among iPhone apps.

This is how it currently looks using the native iPhone Mail app:

Select the share option...

Select the iPhone's "native" mail app...

The subject line of the auto-generated message is blank.

This is how it looks after selecting the Gmail option from the share sheet. You'll notice that a default "Check out this doctor on RealSelf" subject line is added:

Auto-generated e-mail from Gmail has a subject line...

This is how it looks after selecting the Yahoo Mail option. Once again, you'll notice that a default "Check out this doctor on RealSelf" subject line is added:

This is a less than optimal user experience and it would be great if the default message could be added for users who use the native iPhone mail app.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Launch the RealSelf app (version 6.4.5)

2. Sign into an account

3. Head to any provider listed in the app and select the share option

4. From the iOS share sheet, select the native iOS mail app

5. Note that the subject line is blank

6. Repeat same steps with Gmail and Yahoo options from share sheet

7. Note that the subject line is automatically generated

Result: The subject line is blank if the user selects the native iPhone mail app sharing option from the iOS share sheet

Expected: The subject line should always be populated with the "Check out this doctor on RealSelf" text if the user selects the native iPhone mail app option from the share sheet

RealSelf app for iOS: Share sheet - Dark Mode - Facebook Messenger UI

iOS 13.4.1
RealSelf app for iOS (version 6.3.1)
Date: 05/01/20
iOS device set to dark mode

Description:

Minor problem with the current (6.3.1) version of the RealSelf app for iOS.

The RealSelf app has the same problem that numerous other apps have. This problem is with the iOS Share Sheet.

This is how the RealSelf app displays the Facebook Messenger sharing dialog with the iOS device set to the dark mode:

When you compare it to how the RealSelf app displays this in light mode...

You can see that "Done" and "Send" are missing.

This is a common problem with Facebook Messenger and the iOS Share Sheet.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Set the device to the dark mode
2. From inside the RealSelf app select any doctor, treatment, etc.
3. Select the share option
4. Select the Facebook Messenger option
5. Notice that "Done" and "Send" are not visible
6. Compare this to the light mode

Result: With the iOS device set to the dark mode, the "Done" and "Send " options on the Facebook Messenger UI is not visible when accessed via the share sheet by the RealSelf app

Expected: With the iOS device set to the dark mode, the "Done" and "Send" options on the Facebook Messenger UI should be visible when accessed via the share sheet by the Real Self app

RealSelf app for iOS: Opening up the iOS files app results in two Cancel options in search box

iOS 13.3
RealSelf app for iOS (version 6.2.2)
Date: 01/14/2020

Description:

Here's an odd one! This app happens when the RealSelf app opens up the iOS Files option to select a profile photo. This is not a very likely bug that anyone will encounter. Still, this little problem is the only time that I have ever seen this happen when opening up the Files app on iOS.

I'm tempted to believe that this is because the RealSelf app is doing something incorrectly when calling up the Files app.

This is easy to show - take a look:

This is the search of the Files app that is accessible via the RealSelf app. You have to look closely, but if you do, you will see that the "Cancel" option is duplicated. The usual, correct one, is on the right. A second, non-working one, appears inside of the search box, next to the microphone.

As a point of comparison, let's take a look at Rover, which has a similar entry into the Files app for uploading profile photos of prospective dog sitters:

Cancel button is not duplicated. If you click inside the search box...

The cancel button assumes the correct location to the right of the search input box and the microphone icon.

I've played around with a lot of apps, and i've always taken a glance at how (and wondered why) profile picture searches would need to call up the Files app for a photo. In all that time, i've never seen a bug with this behavior until now.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download the RealSelf app - create an account
2. Select "Me"
3. Select the settings gearbox icon in the upper right
4. From the "Settings" page select "Edit Your Profile"
5. Select the "Choose File" option under "Enhance your profile with a photo"
6. Select "Browse" to call up the Files app
7. Note the duplicated "Cancel" button

Result: Calling up the Files app UI from settings option inside of the RealSelf app results in a page where the "Cancel" button near the search input box is duplicated - appears to be unique to RealSelf

Expected: The "Cancel" button in the Files app UI accessible from the Settings portion of the RealSelf iOS should not be duplicated

Please see the attached screenshots.

From inside the RealSelf app, select the "Me" option and then select the gearbox icon in the upper right...

Select the "Edit Your Profile" option...

Select the "Choose File" button...

Select the "Browse" option...

Note the "Cancel" option is duplicated, with the white lettered Cancel option doing nothing - pressing it actually activates the microphone...

Unusual! Not sure if this is RealSelf's problem (which I suspect) or a problem with the Files app

Result: Selecting “Don’t Allow” from the location prompt on the “What would you like to learn about?” option screen results in the app constantly loading

Expected: User should be able to decline location and have options appear – app should not constantly load

Download the RealSelf app from the app store...

Select "I'm New" to create a new account...

Enter in valid credential information, then select "Sign up"...

Select any option on the "What would you like to improve?" page, then select "Next"...

RealSelf – New Accounts – App crashes after deleting a newly created Notebook

RealSelf app for iOS (version 3.3.0 – 20170310.3)
Date: 03/21/2017

Description:

I’ve gotten this crash a couple of times now. Seems to be completely reproducible.

There’s a crash that continually happens with brand new accounts. The app crashes after you delete a newly created Notebook.

Once a new account deletes a newly created Notebook, the app will crash if you press any of the options on the bottom menu bar of the app.

This is much easier to show than to describe, so please see the attached screenshots.

I've posted the crash dump to Pastebin:  http://pastebin.com/Q5C0NX3k

Steps to reproduce:

1.     Download and launch the RealSelf app for iOS
2.     Select the “I’m new” option
3.     Enter in valid information on the sign up page
4.     Select one area of interest
5.     Select “Saved”
6.     Select “Create a notebook”
7.     Create a New Notebook
8.     Select the newly created Notebook
9.     Select the settings icon in upper right hand corner of the screen
10. Select “Delete Notebook”
11. Select “Delete”
12. Select either “Home” or “Search” or “Doctors” or “Me” from the bottom bar

Result: If a new RealSelf account deletes a newly created notebook, the RealSelf iOS app crashes

Expected: The RealSelf iOS app shouldn’t crash if a new user deletes a newly created notebook

Create a new account...

Choose one of these options...

Select "Done"

Select "Saved"

Select "Create a notebook"

Name the new notebook (I called it "New Notebook") and then select "Done"

Select the notebook you just created...

Select the settings option in the upper right hand corner of the screen...

Select the "Delete Notebook" option...

Select "Delete"

Select any option on the bottom.

RealSelf – Account Creation – Email Address isn’t recognized if there is a trailing whitespace following it

RealSelf app for iOS (version 3.3.0 – 20170310.3)
Date: 03/15/2017

Description:

Account creation will fail if the user inserts a single space behind a valid e-mail address during RealSelf account creation on iOS.

I guess the technical language for this is have a “trailing whitespace” following a perfectly valid e-mail address.

I do this without thinking all the time. The vast majority of apps on iOS can handle this during account creation without difficulty.

This is easier to show than to describe, so please see the attached screenshots.

Steps to reproduce:

1.     Download and launch the RealSelf app for iOS
2.     Select the “I’m new” option
3.     In the “Email address” input box, enter in a valid e-mail address with a trailing whitespace behind it
4.     Complete “Password” and “Username” fields and select “Sign up”
5.     Note the “Log in error” message that states “Something’s wrong with this Email address.”
6.     Compare this to most other apps

Result: During RealSelf account creation, valid e-mail addresses are not recognized if there is a trailing whitespace following it

Expected: A single space/trailing whitespace behind a valid e-mail address should not result in an error message during RealSelf account creation

Select the "I'm new" option...
Enter in a valid email address, followed by a single space...
After clicking on the "Sign up" option, the user will see...
