Coverstar - Positive Social app for iOS: Locking Phone WIth Amazon Cognito Dialog On Screen Turns App Unresponsive

 iOS 17.4.1

Coverstar - Positive Social app for iOS (version 8.0)

Date: 04/24/2024

Description:

Here's an odd bug, the likes of which I can't say I exactly seen before with an iOS app! There's an app called Coverstar - Positive Social.

The app has an option to use Google credentials to create an account. If the user selects either the "Continue with Apple" or the "Continue with Google" options, a dialog about amazoncognito.com appears on screen.

That dialog looks like this:

If the user locks the iPhone while this dialog is on screen, the app becomes, seemingly, permanently disabled until the app is reset.

The user becomes stuck on this screen, with everything completely unresponsive. Exiting and relaunching the app doesn't work either...

Here's a video I captured of what this unresponsiveness looks like:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch the Coverstar - Positive Social app for iOS

2. Select the "Profile" icon in the bottom right

3. Select "Sign Up"

4. From the Sign up for Coverstar pop-up, select either "Continue with Apple" or "Continue with Google"

5. With the ""Coverstar" Wants to Use "amazoncognito.com" to Sign In" message on screen, press the side button on the iPhone

6. Unlock the phone and return to the app

Result: Locking the phone while the ""Coverstar" Wants to Use "amazoncognito.com" to Sign In" message is displayed inside of the Coverstar app freezes the app - the app is unresponsive until there is a hard restart of the app

Expected: Locking the phone while the ""Coverstar" Wants to Use "amazoncognito.com" to Sign In" message is displayed inside of the Coverstar app should NOT freeze the app

Gauth: AI Study Companion app for iOS: Easy to Get Stranded on the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service Page

UPDATE: The following reply was received after this problem was documented in a review in the App Store:

iOS 17.4.1

Gauth: AI Study Companion app for iOS (version 1.44.1)

Date: 4/23/2024

Description:

There's an easy to reproduce functional bug with the current version (1.44.1) of the Gauth app for iOS. If the user loads the app for the first time they are presented with a "Terms & Privacy" pop-up message at launch.

If the user takes a moment to read either the "Terms of Service" or "Privacy policy" links on this pop-up message, they basically become stranded. There is no "back" out of either dialog. The user is forced to do a forced re-boot of the app.

This is really bad end-user experience.

Here's a video of the problem:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download and launch the Gauth: AI Study Companion app for iOS (version 1.44.1)

2. From the "Terms & Privacy" pop-up select either "Terms of Service" or "Privacy policy"

3. Try to back out - get the app to start

Result: If the user selects either the "Terms of Service" or "Privacy policy" links from the "Terms & Privacy" pop-up that is displayed at launch the user becomes stranded on these pages - no way to back out and get back into the app.

Expected: User should have a means of backing out from the "Terms of Service" and "Privacy policy" links and re-enter back into the app

Please take a look at the screenshots below:

Download and launch the Gauth: AI Study Companion app for the first time..

Launch the app.

Select either the "Terms of Service" or Privacy policy" links...

User is stuck on these pages - the app requires a forced reset to work.

Chico's Women's Clothing app for iOS: Terms of Use and Privacy Policy links not working

 iOS: 17.4.1

Chico's - Women's Clothing app for iOS (version 3.0.0)

Date: 04/22/2024

Description:

There's a problem with the "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy" links inside of the iOS app when the user is registering a new account. Neither of these links seem to work. Clicking them does not take the user to a "Terms of Use" or a "Privacy Policy". Oddly, if the user does press these links, during account creation, they seem to activate after the user enters the app.

You can see the "Terms of Service" and "Privacy Policy" links in this screenshot:

Selecting either of these links does not activate them.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Download the Chico's - Women's Clothing app for iOS

2. From the "Welcome!" screen, select "Register"

3. From the "By creating an account, you agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and rewards program Terms & Conditions." select either "Terms or Use" or Privacy Policy"

Result: the "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy" links on the Register screen are not active

Expected: that the "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy" links on the Register page work and are active

Download and launch the Chico's - Women's Clothing app for the app store...

Launch the app...

Select the "Register" option...

Select either the "Terms of Use" or "Privacy Policy" links...

The "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy" links to NOT lead to this information...
